Modern farmhouse cottage set on 5 private acres including an apple orchard, original water tower, outbuildings and several majestic cypress and cedar trees. The home offers elegance and comfort rarely available on the coast. You will find that any stay here is as much about enjoying the land as it is the house. Once an active homestead, this property is simply a delight to experience.

Good to know

The recently renovated home has two similarly sized bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, a living room and a modern kitchen/diner that opens onto the south facing patio, complete with fire pit. The bedrooms each have a queen bed, accommodating 4 guests. 1 additional guest can be accommodated on a single fold up bed, which can be set up on request (prior to arrival) in either of the bedrooms. A spacious patio links the home to the water tower, which offers a hammock retreat space. This is the place to watch the wildlife in the morning, or enjoy the sun setting on the treetops by the fire pit in the evening. The house has been meticulously refurbished using old growth redwood, salvaged from the home during the remodel. Featuring many modern amenities, the renovated space still honors the property's 100 year-plus homestead history. Internet service is provided by Comcast/Xfinity high speed cable, ideal for guests planning to work during their stay. An on site washer and dryer can be made available for guests on longer stays. There are 13 well established apple trees on the property, from which guests can enjoy picking their own apples during harvest season, September through November. Each season though brings its own natural joys, such as the apple blossom in March, the magnificent rhododendrons in April or the foxgloves in June.

This picturesque rural neighborhood lies conveniently between Fort Bragg and Mendocino, just a 5 or 10 minute drive into town respectively. The house sits on 5 private acres, so peace and tranquility are guaranteed, yet access to all the Mendocino Coast has to offer is just a few minutes drive away. The nearest beach (our secret beach few tourists know about!) is just a two minute drive away. Amenities such as Harvest Market grocery store and the Botanical Gardens are just a 3-5 minute drive. The beautiful Mendocino Coast has so much to offer visitors; as local residents we can offer many tips on the area's attractions. (Although you may not want to leave the property!)

What a lovely house! We stayed at Jo’s place for 3 days for our vacation to Mendocino. The house is well maintained and looks exactly like the photos posted except for one thing: a deer family came to the house every day as they want to eat apples from apple trees in the backyard! 😀 Location-wise, it’s perfectly located between Mendocino and Fort Bragg, taking maximum 15 mins to anywhere you go in those two cities. I’d definitely come back for our next trip to Mendocino!

This is our third stay at Jo's beautiful farmhouse, and yet again, it was absolutely perfect! The home is exactly as pictured and as we remember it. It has everything we need, and is close to all the restaurants and shops we enjoy visiting. This time, it was really nice to use the kitchen to cook some meals and eat outside in the warm sun! Jo is such a lovely host, promptly answering any questions we had, but otherwise leaving us to enjoy the home and apple orchard in peace. We really love our yearly getaway to Fort Bragg, and this farmhouse really feels like home when we are there. We love it and hope to come back year after year! Thank-you, Jo!

Homestead Mendocino is by far the ONLY choice when staying in the Mendocino/Ft. Bragg area. I originally was looking at hotel options for my family, but am SO incredibly glad I found Homestead Mendocino. Not only is the cottage so adorably decorated and extremely clean, but the outdoor space and location make it a standout choice. It is 10-minutes or less to downtown Mendocino as well as Ft. Bragg. Every morning and dusk we were visited by deer in the picturesque backyard. You will NOT be disappointed, and I look forward to my next stay at Homestead Mendocino.

We had a wonderful stay here! A beautiful and very comfortable home that was very stylish and easy to relax in. It was also just a short drive to lots of fun things to do. The kids loved running around the big fenced yard while we enjoyed the back patio. We would definitely stay here again!

This home is amazing and the yard is even more amazing! The house was bright, cozy, clean and had everything you would want. The location was conveniently located for great food and excursions. Awesome and relaxing spot. It was tucked away so there is privacy. My kids loved exploring the backyard, and I spent a lot of time grilling on the propane BBQ. Place is clean! There are spices and oil, but that is about it. So if you like to cook make sure to bring your own supplies.

We came to mendocino for an extended weekend with our toddler. We right away fell in love with the pictures of this property and when we reached the spot we loved it even more. It's so beautiful and so tastefully done, each & every corner and detail. The backyard is endless yet so well maintained. It's perfect for a photoshoot and I am not even kidding. Our toddler loved the space which was very important for us. She loved the vintage piano and played everyday. The host was very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend.

Great stay on this very cute farm. Our toddler was obsessed with the deer that seemed to live in the expansive backyard. The grounds were really pretty with apple trees, lots of natural sunlight, great back deck with fire pit and seating. It was a perfect retreat from the city for a couple days. But also really well located just a 5 minutes drive from the botanical gardens, 10 minutes from the skunk train and 10-12 minutes from Mendocino village. Would definitely stay here again

We loved our stay at Jo's place! One of the best vacation rentals I've stayed at -- charming/clean home in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed sitting outside watching the deer graze and had a fire every night (with wood provided by the host). It felt like we were far away from everything, but it was only a short drive into Fort Bragg. The house is beautifully constructed, decorated, and clean. We can't recommend this place enough. If you're looking for a serene/peaceful experience, this is your place!
