Modern farmhouse cottage set on 5 private acres including an apple orchard, original water tower, outbuildings and several majestic cypress and cedar trees. The home offers elegance and comfort rarely available on the coast. You will find that any stay here is as much about enjoying the land as it is the house. Once an active homestead, this property is simply a delight to experience.

Good to know

The recently renovated home has two similarly sized bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, a living room and a modern kitchen/diner that opens onto the south facing patio, complete with fire pit. The bedrooms each have a queen bed, accommodating 4 guests. 1 additional guest can be accommodated on a single fold up bed, which can be set up on request (prior to arrival) in either of the bedrooms. A spacious patio links the home to the water tower, which offers a hammock retreat space. This is the place to watch the wildlife in the morning, or enjoy the sun setting on the treetops by the fire pit in the evening. The house has been meticulously refurbished using old growth redwood, salvaged from the home during the remodel. Featuring many modern amenities, the renovated space still honors the property's 100 year-plus homestead history. Internet service is provided by Comcast/Xfinity high speed cable, ideal for guests planning to work during their stay. An on site washer and dryer can be made available for guests on longer stays. There are 13 well established apple trees on the property, from which guests can enjoy picking their own apples during harvest season, September through November. Each season though brings its own natural joys, such as the apple blossom in March, the magnificent rhododendrons in April or the foxgloves in June.

This picturesque rural neighborhood lies conveniently between Fort Bragg and Mendocino, just a 5 or 10 minute drive into town respectively. The house sits on 5 private acres, so peace and tranquility are guaranteed, yet access to all the Mendocino Coast has to offer is just a few minutes drive away. The nearest beach (our secret beach few tourists know about!) is just a two minute drive away. Amenities such as Harvest Market grocery store and the Botanical Gardens are just a 3-5 minute drive. The beautiful Mendocino Coast has so much to offer visitors; as local residents we can offer many tips on the area's attractions. (Although you may not want to leave the property!)

Wonderful stay. Jo was fantastic with communication and made the entire experience easy. The property is amazing and they did a wonderful job with the home. It’s beautiful and very well put together. We only stayed one night, but it left a great impression and we would love to return for a longer visit in the future. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful spot! The farmhouse is comfortable and has been wonderfully updated. The plentiful outdoor space was peaceful, and perfect for our school age kids. Loved the hammock and fire pit! The house was a perfect base to explore Mendocino. We’d love to stay again when we return someday!

Jo’s very friendly and always communicates about the instructions before hand. We requested a foldable twin bed and when we arrived, it was right there. The property is also gorgeous. The backyard is huge and a family of deers occasionally visit. My kids are super excited to see them and always looking for them the first thing in the morning.

The rating really speaks for itself. During our stay, we could see black-tailed deer almost anytime, which was a huge highlight for my son. The location isn’t right by the ocean, but it’s only about a 5-minute drive to the coast, grocery stores, and some great restaurants. What impressed me most was the cleanliness. Given that the house is surrounded by nature and near a forest, I didn’t expect it to be spotless—but it exceeded my expectations. There were no ants or flies at all, and everything was incredibly clean. You can tell the host pays attention to detail—even areas like behind the TV were spotless, and utensils were neatly aligned. My family had a truly unforgettable experience here.

We absolutely loved this place. It felt so homey and welcoming from the moment we arrived — pristine cleanliness, a wonderful kitchen (that stove!), comfortable beds, and nice bathrooms. Everything you could want. The backyard was a highlight, deer out back in the morning, a hammock to relax in, and total privacy. Beautifully decorated throughout. Jo was wonderfully responsive, both after booking when we had questions about amenities, and even after checkout when we realized my AirPods had fallen out in the hammock. That kind of hospitality really stands out. We would absolutely love to return someday! 💕

We absolutely enjoyed our stay with Jo! The house was so cute and comfortable. There were super thoughtful touches throughout the house and it was spotless! The grounds around were gorgeous and despite the poor weather my kids had so much fun running around. It was a quiet and peaceful retreat and exactly what we were looking for. The view of deer in the morning alone makes the entire stay worth it. The place was clean and comfortable. There are multiple restaurants within 5 mins drive and lots of beaches to explore nearby. It's a perfect weekend getaway spot.
