We had a wonderful time at Jo’s cottage! It was easy to find and perfectly situated between downtown fort Bragg and Mendocino and close to beautiful beaches and restaurants! The property was huge and gorgeous, perfect for kids to explore! The deer on the property were quite a hit too! The renovation that Jo and Ed did to the home was truly incredible! We all greatly appreciated the hard work they put into making this cottage the perfect getaway for our family! Everything was clean and very comfortable! The house was safe and kid friendly. Jo’s communication was excellent, she was friendly, detailed and very quick to respond to any questions I had! We will definitely come back to this hidden gem! Thank you Jo!

What a gem of a cottage. The grounds are beautiful, and the home lives even better than the photos. Jo was very friendly and communicative. The home was thoughtfully curated and an obvious labor of love. My family, which includes history lover, really enjoyed this home and all its thoughtful touches. Thanks Jo.

We had a wonderful stay! The cabin is charming and cozy, set in a very quiet neighborhood with a spacious backyard. Surrounded by beautiful apple trees, it felt like a peaceful retreat in nature. We were even lucky to see deer in the morning, which made the experience extra special. A perfect spot for a relaxing family trip.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars! It is that good. This is our 2nd stay and it was perfect! Jo is a GREAT host and communicator. Everything that you could possibly is in this home, from an out standing kitchen; well stocked, to the bed bed, pillows, linens, and bath sheets, the finest of appliances and furnishing. Looks like a picture of Architecture Digest magazine. Her photos don't do it justice. The home is beautiful, warm, comfy, and very peaceful. We had deer & fawn in the yard everyday, and the sound of birds singing...plus the hammock under the water tower, and all the apples trees! Just stunning! But she also takes care of the little things too. Like nightlights, coasters, vanity mirror, soft toilet paper, all light fixtures on a dimmer, I could go on and on. I will definitely be back, and back, and back. Her recommendations were spot on for things to do and where to eat or buy groceries! Her in property book was so helpful on so many different topics!

Looks even bigger and better in person. We were five people and sleeping arrangements were easy and comfortable. Lots of breathing space in common areas, too, so we didn't feel like we were living in each other's pockets. Walking distance to morning coffee and a really beautiful and quiet neighborhood. A fully stocked kitchen with everything we needed. Super clean and organized. Very attentive and helpful host with fast response times.
Definitely bookmarking this house for another visit some day!

What a lovely house! We stayed at Jo’s place for 3 days for our vacation to Mendocino. The house is well maintained and looks exactly like the photos posted except for one thing: a deer family came to the house every day as they want to eat apples from apple trees in the backyard! 😀 Location-wise, it’s perfectly located between Mendocino and Fort Bragg, taking maximum 15 mins to anywhere you go in those two cities. I’d definitely come back for our next trip to Mendocino!

This is our third stay at Jo's beautiful farmhouse, and yet again, it was absolutely perfect! The home is exactly as pictured and as we remember it. It has everything we need, and is close to all the restaurants and shops we enjoy visiting. This time, it was really nice to use the kitchen to cook some meals and eat outside in the warm sun! Jo is such a lovely host, promptly answering any questions we had, but otherwise leaving us to enjoy the home and apple orchard in peace. We really love our yearly getaway to Fort Bragg, and this farmhouse really feels like home when we are there. We love it and hope to come back year after year! Thank-you, Jo!

Homestead Mendocino is by far the ONLY choice when staying in the Mendocino/Ft. Bragg area. I originally was looking at hotel options for my family, but am SO incredibly glad I found Homestead Mendocino. Not only is the cottage so adorably decorated and extremely clean, but the outdoor space and location make it a standout choice. It is 10-minutes or less to downtown Mendocino as well as Ft. Bragg. Every morning and dusk we were visited by deer in the picturesque backyard. You will NOT be disappointed, and I look forward to my next stay at Homestead Mendocino.

Great spot with an ideal layout for a toddler who sleeps lightly -- the second bedroom doesn't share any walls with the bathroom or primary bedroom. Yay for being able to stay up later without disturbing the kiddo.
We enjoyed walking the trails (manageable with a stroller) and much to our toddler's delight, even saw some deer and jackrabbits.

Such a wonderful home! Perfect size, all the amenities one could ask for, peaceful area and beautiful street. We keep coming back for those reasons and the host, Jo is amazing.
